Senna Leaf
Senna (Cassia angustifolia) is a small, peelable-bark shrub that grows in the upper Nile regions of Africa and the Arabian peninsula. Senna was used over 3500 years ago by ancient Egyptian physicians. According to a rare and amazing Egyptian medical papyrus, dating to the 16th century B.C., Senna was prescribed by the physicians for their distinguished patients.

It was also used extensively by Arabian physicians, according to their 9th century A.D. writings. Senna was introduced to Europe before the Crusades and has been widely used ever since. The American Indians also employed the use of American Senna, a variety of the Eurpean species. Senna is often combined with various aromatic herbs.

Chamomile
Native to Eurasia and first used by ancient Egyptians, Chamomile (Matricia chamomilla) has daisy-like flowers and a long and storied history as a gentle, soothing herb. In traditional Gernan herbalism, Chamomile was so popular it was called alles zutrut, meaning "capable of anything". With its pleasing sweet apple aroma, it has always been one of the world's. In addition, its fragrance makes Chamomile a pleasant addition to potpurris and aromatic dried flower arrangements.

Cosmetically, Chamomile makes a wonderfully soothing bath, a penetrating facial, and it can be used to bring golden highlights to brown hair.

Peppermint Leaf
Peppermint (Mentha piperita) is a universally-loved and widely used flavoring found in medicines, toothpaste, candies, liqueurs, and other products. Interest in mints dates from the first century A.D., when it was first recorded by the Roman naturalist Pliny. So highly thought of, years later Peppermint was included in a list of plants being taken to the New World.

Peppermint's value comes from the mint's volatile oil, which contains menthol. Cosmetically, Peppermint makes a stimulating skin tonic and an invigorating bath. Culinary uses include mint sauces, syrups, vinegar and desserts.

Peppermint also makes a refershing tea, enjoyed both cold or hot. Lemon may be blended, sweetened if desired, or added with other healthful tea herbs such as Alfalfa or Linden flowers.

Rosemary Leaf
Native to the Mediterranean, where warmer temperatures prevail, Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) was introduced to Britain by the Romans. Boughs of Rosemary have had many uses in the past. They were carried at weddings, used to freshen rooms, and burned as incense.

They are also used as a pungent flavoring in cooking. The leaves, fresh or dried, can be used with chicken , meats (especially lanb), stews, breads, pizzas, and vegetables. Dried leaves can also be added to the coals of barbecues, near the end of cooking, to impact Rosemary's characteristic flavor to meats. In addition to its varied culinary uses, Rosemary also has a history as a health giving herb.

In 1525, Bancke's Herbal, the first book devoted exclusively to herbs and their uses, was printed in England and included Rosemary. Early Arabian physicians are credited as the first to recommend this fragrant herb as a tea. And today, it is still enjoyed, often before retiring.

SUGGESTED USAGE
The best way to make a good tasting cup of tea is by the infusion method. Place one tea bag into a cup and add no more than 6 oz. of boiling water. Let steep for 3 minutes and remove the bag. Press the bag before removing to enhance the flavor. Add honey to sweeten.
