Essiac tea offered by the pound in certified organic and conventional blends. Our Essiac herbal tea is blended according to Rene Caisse's recipe using only the finest quality ingredients. Each pound of essiac herbal tea comes labeled with brewing directions and will make approximately 4 gallons of tea (4oz. makes approximately 1 gallon).

Why do we have 3 different essiac herbal blends? It's rather simple really - one is blended with conventional cut and sifted herbs (Essiac Tea), one is blended with organic cut and sifted herbs (Organic Essiac Tea), and the Trinity blend uses organic herbs, but 3 of the ingredients are in powdered form, which makes a thicker brew because the powder is very difficult to strain from the final product (some of our customers prefer these herb particles remain).

Essiac Tea is an herbal mixture with a long medicinal history. The original formulation is credited to a Canadian nurse by the name of Rene Caisse. Interestingly, Essiac tea was so named as it is “caisse” spelled backwards.

The essiac herbs are a combination of well known medicinal herbs. These are used in specific proportions to formulate the Essiac herb tea. The commonly used mixture includes burdock root (Arctium lappa L.), slippery elm bark (Ulmus fulva/Ulmus rubra), sheep sorrel (Rumex acetosella L.), and either Indian or Turkey rhubarb root (Rheum palmatum L.). It is believed this formulation has roots in the traditional medicine of Canada’s Ojibwa people. Each of the individual elements of essiac herbal tea boast a history of medicinal applications. Sheep sorrel, for example, has long been considered a traditional folk remedy in both Europe and Asia.
