The two most important Omega-3 fatty acids are the biologically activated oils - EPA and DHA. EPA is effective in supporting healthy cardiac and circulatory systems, while DHA is an essential structural component of the central nervous system. DHA is important for optimum development of the brain and the eyes, and is therefore very important for the health of pregnant women and small children. Currently, the level of DHA in American women's breast milk is one of the lowest in the world. Softgels may be opened and the oil can be added to a child s food.
